Trying New Things!

As everyone knows, I am far from being that domestic woman (cooking, sewing, crafty, cleaning) which I know I should try to be better at! So thank you Kristin for creating this blog so that I will have motivation to try new things!!! I have tried cooking more, but you can only experiment so much with hamburger helper! But I have now found myself wondering into fabric stores and falling in love with all the complimentary colors, shapes and patterns! So I surprised myself when I decided to make another (the first attempt at it went well and I gave it to someone who I knew wouldn't mind the crooked lines and skewed cloth due to my lack of knowledge....but I had a great teacher who was very calm and patient with me) baby car seat cover for my friend who is have a baby girl! So when this second go-a-round, I have decided to blog the process and outcome and prove that I am truly trying to do things my way!!!

DIY homemade slushie

With summer here, things are heating up quickly. Too quickly if you ask me! But in our family hot weather usually = lots of cold shlushies!!
Last year I found this tutorial over at theidearoom.net for frozen lemonade. We tried it and fell in love, only one problem, I don't always have lemonade concentrate in stock. But what I have a TON of is kool-aid! So I gave it a try, and you know what? Its pretty awesome! If you like kool-aid. Good thing I do!!
Here's the how to, in case you want to try!

*Sorry for the horrible pictures, lost the camera and had make do with the phone one!

All you need is a pitcher of kool-aid, an ice cream maker, Ice and rock (ice cream) salt.

  • First make up a pitcher of kool-aid. I made two, but I think one would have been plenty. Oh and make sure it's not sugar free. I'm pretty sure you need the sugar to help it freeze right.
  • Next add the drink mix to your ice cream maker.
  •  And last, add ice and rock salt and turn on! That's it! Give it about 30+ mins and it should be plenty frozen for you to enjoy!

Easy peasy! It's not the same as you might find at the local gas station/ convenience store, but its pretty darn tasty! Hope you try and enjoy! If you do please let me know, I'd love to know what you think!

Kristin Trying New Things...

I've always loved looking at and reading other blogs. Blog stalking has become sort of a hobby for me! I think I do it well! But Ive always wanted to have my own. So I'm so excited to be able to have a place to post my latest adventures. Whether its crafting or baking I'm excited to start trying new things. I have lots of Ideas of my own, but I feel so inspired by all the other bloggers out there sharing thier talents. Hopefully my take on things can inspire others as well! Please enjoy these "trials" of things with me!

Cindi starting somewhere...

So, any member of my family (or old roommates) would agree when I say that I use to dislike cooking. I say USE TO, because in the last year I have truly learned to love cooking.

I moved away from home 10 years ago. Chad and I have now been married for 7 of those years. So it has taken me a long time to enjoy cooking. Actually, Chad has always been the better cook and we had an agreement that if he cooked then I cleaned. It worked really well. But, since he does not get home until 6:00 sometimes, I have taken over the cooking for better or for worse.

I Hope throughout the blog I can tell you more about my cooking journey and how I have come to be comfortable with it. I will post pics of food I have tried and my journey in cooking the recipe.

I will also attempt to put up posts about my crafting experiences but I don't do crafts. However, whatever I do attempt I will post about it no matter how well it goes.

and I of course would love any feedback or comments you have. I know I can always improve and change for the better. Thanks - Cindi
